Gospel Music Legend Sammy Hall Passes Away
Sevierville, TN (June 24, 2013) -- Gospel legend Sammy Hall passed away today at the age of 67 after a long battle with cancer.
Sammy traveled in the music ministry 45 years; reaching the youth of America and throughout the world helping troubled teens and leading them to Christ. He believed in the "far-reaching appeal of great music with a positive message". His "sound" has been described as "a vocal kaleidoscope... unique to the human voice." He ran an anti-drug program, "Schooldaz", and toured the country speaking against the turmoil and self destruction of drug and alcohol dependency. He has performed at benefits for the United Way, Mothers against Drunk Driving, Dare, and "Just Say No" to mention just a few.
According to his website, (http://www.sammyhall.com) "In his community service, his family life, and his music, Sammy Hall displays commitment to caring about his fellow man with a heart that's always eager to lift up those around him. The greatest expression of those commitments can be found in his music. Yes, it's polished Christian music, very uplifting in its excellent production quality and professional approach, but at the core of it is Sammy's heartfelt desire to communicate God's love to all."
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family will receive friends 4-6:30 PM Thursday, June 27, 2013, with memorial service following at 7 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Keeter and Rev. Paul Tedder officiating. The family has chosen cremation arranged by Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
